Just in case you’ve forgotten how beautiful this country is, here’s one more photo from Carmacks early in the morning of July 7. This was the view from the guys’ cabin, taken 100 feet from where they had spent the night:

Moving gradually toward home, the guys discovered the McBride Museum in Whitehorse (as we now know, the capital of the Yukon territory.) The seat below was carved from a Yukon Tree, which we’ll talk about tomorrow, and the rest of the photos are examples of Yukon wildlife:

If you need an ID on any of the animals, just comment.
The final picture for today’s post is the Yukon River Gates between Whitehorse and Teslin Lake. The gates are lowered to slow the flow of water leaving the lake as it gets low:

The next post will show what the adventurers are doing in British Columbia. But first I’d like to ask our readers two things:
- If you are one of the readers who have had trouble with some of the photos loading, I have been working with WordPress to resolve the problem. Today’s post is a test…If any of the photos do not load PLEASE let me know. I’m hoping for 100% success!
- Also, please remember that this trip to Tuktoyaktuk and back to California has two goals. First, to honor both US and Canadian veterans, and second to increase the visibility of our American Legion Scholarship Fund which offers help to graduates of the Cambria Leffingwell Continuation School. Jay feels a special affinity to this school and he believes he could have been a “continuation school kid” if they had had one back then! If you are interested in donating to the scholarship fund, here’s a link to a secure donation page:

Thank you, and the adventure continues tomorrow.
So enjoying these posts…thank you! Judy
