On Thursday, September 19th, we drove 104 miles from McBride to Jasper, Alberta, and we spent two days there.

However, our morning did not start well.  Terri’s starter wasn’t working so the guys tried to push start her.  They finally towed her to get the speed they needed for her to start.

However, her clutch was also acting up, so once Radio Flyer started, they decided to switch – Jay drove Radio Flyer and Terri drove Maxi all the way to Jasper.  Here are some of the views on the way to Jasper.

Jasper, as you probably know has just survived a terrible wildfire, with 25,000 people safely evacuated, and only one death – a firefighter.  Located in Jasper National Park, the town suffered extensive damage but is already working toward recovery.  We were glad to help contribute to the economy.

Here are an assortment of shots from the two days we spent in Jasper.  You’ll probably notice the new snow that fell during our first night there.

On the second day, one couple visited nearby Pyramid Lake:

Pyramid Lake Jasper

Originally, we had a dinner cruise on Lake Maligne booked for our second night, but the road to the lake was still closed due to the fire, so we gathered at a restaurant by our hotel for a group dinner.

Sunrise on Saturday, September 21st was spectacular:

Unfortunately, even after two days of work on Radio Flyer, she wasn’t fixed, and with the mountain roads from Jasper to Lake Louise, it was decided to tow her on Tim’s trouble trailer.

The next post will show some of the highlights of our two days at Lake Louise, which is also in the National Park.
