On Saturday, September 21st, we drove from Jasper to Alberta and spent two more days in Alberta enjoying the beauty of the Lake Louise area.

Our day’s journey was 143 miles, and here are some of the views along the road.

Then, we arrived at what was for me the highlight of the tour:  Lake Louise.  First stop (of course) was the Visitor Center.

A local car club met us at the Lake Louise Inn and arranged to have a RCMP in his red uniform greet us

We were pretty tired and laid low this day, but Terri had an exciting offer from the local Calgary car club.  They called their main mechanic and he agreed to fix her car.  So, the guys loaded Radio Flyer on the trailer and Tim drove Terri and her car to Calgary that night.  The club arranged  for her to stay with a member, and Tim returned to Lake Louise to resume his tour duties.  The mechanic and Calgary Club members had the tools, equipment and space to work on the car.  Don flew into Calgary to assist, and after the repairs were completed, Terri and Don reconnected with the tour for our Farewell Dinner on the 25th.  Too bad she missed enjoying Lake Louise, but I’m sure Terri was relieved to get her car functioning well.

The rest of our tour group enjoyed the Lake on Sunday, September 22nd. The sun was not cooperative, but the lake, which is an icon of the  Canadian Rockies, is unbelievably beautiful, as you can tell from these shots:

The first chalet was built on the shore of Lake Louise ion 1890, but the first visitors likely arrived 10,000 years earlier, as aboriginal people likely visited this lake on hunting or spiritual journeys.

Here are photos of the Chateau today:

Our mileage this day was negligible as the public transit to the Lake was more convenient than driving and hoping to find a parking space.

Tomorrow, we leave Alberta and return to British Columbia.
